Right now in New South Wales, the Minns Government is using a regime of anti-protest laws to sterilise public conversation and shut down anyone that doesn't agree with them. The state's highest court - the NSW Court of Appeal - recently ruled that the government's rushed, anti-protest laws (PARD laws) used to arrest protesters at the Anti-Herzog Rally are unconstitutional and invalid, yet the NSW Police and the government are still trying to push ahead with criminal charges against everyday people who took a stand at the 9 February 2026 protest.
Even within the Labor Party, the pressure is building. The right to protest has emerged as the single most submitted issue (with 56 motions passed) by Labor branches and affiliated unions ahead of the upcoming NSW Labor Annual Conference in July 2026. We want to take this opportunity and come together in such numbers to show to MPs and Ministers that we've had enough! That it's time for them to take notice and speak out against Minns' anti-protest Regime at the upcoming NSW Labor Conference.
Speakers Lineup:
Timothy Roberts - NSW Council for Civil Liberties (NSWCCL) President
Nick Hanna - Criminal Defence Lawyer and Civil Liberties Defence Centre Executive
