When democracy works, government decisions are made in the best interests of people, the planet and future generations. But right now that's not happening in Australia.

Our democracy is ailing: corporate interests are unfairly distorting democratic processes to win outcomes that put their profits ahead of our wellbeing. 

We need to fix this. We need new rules and oversight to reset our democracy.

The #OurDemocracy campaign is a nationwide movement of people and organisations who want a healthy Australian democracy which works for us, not just for the powerful few. The campaign has been co-created with the input of experts and 30 diverse civil society organisations over the last 12 months. We have developed the Framework for a Fair Democracy, which sets out the common sense reforms Parliament must pass to make our democracy fair for all of us.

To win the ambitious law reform that will make our political system work better for all of us, we need a broad and powerful movement - and NSW Council for Civil Liberties is thrilled to be part of it.
