**SOLD OUT ** 2023 John Marsden Memorial Lecture

After a brief Covid hiatus, we proudly host the John Marsden Memorial Lecture again in 2023. Honouring John Marsden AM, Life Member and Past President of NSWCCL, former President of the NSW Law Society and passionate activist for LGBTIQ rights and civil liberties, we invite important thinkers and contributors to challenge the status-quo at this wonderful event. This year, we are delighted to welcome Michael Kirby AC, CMG and Her Honour Magistrate Pauline Wright to deliver the lecture.

When he retired from the High Court of Australia on 2 February 2009, Michael Kirby was Australia’s longest serving judge. He is a passionate campaigner for human rights and LGBTQI rights and safety.

Michael will be speaking on The biggest civil liberty challenge of them all: Response to the global nuclear dangers and respect for the international rule of law.

Pauline Wright made history for NSWCCL as the second only woman to be elected as President of NSW Council for Civil Liberties - after the Hon. Justice, Carolyn Simpson - since the organisation was founded in 1963.

Pauline will be speaking on The Presumption of innocence and the right to live free form sexual violence.
